What is Emphysema?
Emphysema is an unceasing obstreperous pulmonary disease which affects the lungs. It is the most common lung disease till date. It is quite dangerous and causes shortness of breath in the affected patients. It is basically an advanced lung disorder which requires immediate medical attention. It causes over-inflation of the alveoli which are also known as air sacs which further cause expansion of lungs from their actual size. This also results in accumulation of fluid in lungs. Lung tissues are solely responsible for transporting f oxygen and carbon di oxide but in Emphysema they get majorly affected causing a serious medical condition. This process make lungs look like soft sponges with larger holes and they also lose their elasticity when this disease attacks. Airflow on the exhalation is slowed down in patient suffering from this disease. This chronic disorder is considered the 4th most common cause of death in individuals.
